Who Are the

Woodlanders?

We are a local voluntary group who care for the environment and help others appreciate what nature has to offer

Working with the Woodland Trust

Woodland is our heritage and we wish to help people understand how important it is

We already have involvement with other woodland and wildlife sites in Leicestershire

As a group we are actively involved with the Woodland Trust in the management and promotion of Martin’s and Felicity’s Woods; 2 newly created woodland sites deep in the heart of Charnwood Forest

We are a Constituted Group who meet monthly and have a committee of 9 people who are responsible for the day to day running of the group; we also have a wider network of approximately 50 supporters

Martin’s Wood and Felicity’s Wood are located in Charnwood Forest near Loughborough, Leicestershire

What we will be offering

  • Children’s Day – nature trail, story trail, talk about the trees, woods and what we use wood for.
  • Family Day – puppets dealing with environmental issues, music workshops and family games.
  • Multi cultural Day – telling stories from the different continents i.e. African and Asia.
  • Educational Events & walks.
  • Tree planting.
  • Helping to manage Woodland and assisting people to reconnect with nature.

The monies raised from our fundraising events will go towards outdoor activities. We also have a 26 foot Tee Pee to house activities during the day when the weather is poor or when the particular activity is most suitable indoors. The Tee Pee is capable of seating up to 50 people.

Be part of our promise

Charnwood Grove started 20 years ago and from that branched into The Charnwood Grove Woodlanders; we have been running for 4 years and have been actively promoting engagement with nature and helping people gain a deeper understanding of the countryside.

"The Woodland Trust fully supports what the Charnwood Grove Woodlander Group hope to achieve at Martins and Felicities Woods. The Teepee they hope to purchase will be a great help to them in providing a safe, warm, dry area in which to inspire, educate and encourage people to take an active interest in our natural environment.“
